Mr. Hanson has established a notable career in quality assurance, computer systems validation, life sciences, and program and project management, earning more than 25 years of recognition for his expertise and leadership within the information technology (IT) sector. Since 2022, he has served as a principal consultant and senior SQA lead at Osprey Software, a consulting company, in Watham, Massachusetts, that drives digital adoption, operational excellence and regulatory readiness for clients to deliver scalable solutions.
As part of his responsibilities, Mr. Hanson conducts quality assurance work for clients, establishes operational processes and workflows, teaches teams to integrate quality into their work and manages consultants as a senior resource manager. In this capacity, he is also responsible for conducting team check-ins and advancing the careers of five individuals through training and mentorship, a role he finds deeply rewarding.
Earlier, Mr. Hanson held the position of project manager at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. from 2021 to 2022. There, he managed complex projects within the pharmaceutical sector, leveraging his background to oversee teams across multiple countries. During the early part of 2021, Mr. Hanson was a client operations manager at Azzur Group (now Chrysalis), where he oversaw client-facing operations such as onboarding and billing.
From 2020 to 2021, Mr. Hanson was an IT compliance computer systems validation lead for Project Outlier, serving in a consulting capacity. During 2020, he also consulted for OpenText as a UAT and release program manager. Among numerous other roles, Mr. Hanson worked for companies like J. Jill and Hawkins Point Partners (now Jill Acquisition LLC), East Street Solutions and Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. Mr. Hanson first worked for Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. from 2013 to 2017 as client engagement manager, overseeing a team of up to 20 consultants, before returning to the organization in 2021 as a project manager.
From 2011 to 2013, Mr. Hanson was global test program manager at State Street Corporation. He also excelled as a senior quality manager at the Massachusetts Medical Society, starting in 2009. Mr. Hanson had the opportunity to work for Collaborative Consulting LLC (now CGI Inc.), where he spent over a decade from 2006 to 2018 as a senior principal consultant and quality assurance practice lead. During this period, he worked with a manager who maintained high standards. Their collaboration proved highly successful and influenced his approach to consulting engagements.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Hanson was the director of quality services at OneShield from 2003 to 2006 and the director of quality services at e-Nable Corporation, Medical Information Bureau (now MIB Group Holdings Inc.) between 2000 and 2002. At e-Nable Corporation, he notably co-authored the TXLife Extensible Markup Language standards for the North American life insurance market. This significant contribution advanced electronic data interchange in the industry.
Among his foundational roles, Mr. Hanson was the assistant vice president of product design and product support at Insurance Technology Services of America (ITSA) from 1997 to 1999, where he designed the first-ever online comparative rate engine, a groundbreaking achievement during the early days of internet-based services. Mr. Hanson’s tenure at ITSA also included mentoring remote teams in Wausau, Wisconsin, and developing defect-tracking systems that were later sold to multiple companies.
Mr. Hanson’s professional journey dates back to 1997, when he joined ESS Software, working in quality assurance. Despite not having any formal training or prior experience in IT, he adapted and learned quickly.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Hanson acquired an Associate of Arts in business from Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Massachusetts, in 1989, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in economics with a focus on political science from the University of New Hampshire in Durham in 1991. Additionally, Mr. Hanson holds credentials as a certified process-based auditor from the American Society for Quality since 2005 and earned a certified tester foundation level certification from the International Software Testing Qualifications Board.
Active in his professional community, Mr. Hanson is a senior member of the American Society for Quality. He is also committed to civic engagement as a volunteer with local neighborhood organizations in Boston and with the Jones Hill Association.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hanson has been recognized for his dedication to mentoring others both within organizations and beyond. As a leader in his field, he has notably co-authored industry standards that have had a lasting impact. Mr. Hanson credits much of his professional growth to mentors during his time at ITSA.
