Desi R. Dr. Roberts’s responsibilities include public relations, education on voting matters and voter registration, and maintaining all records related to elections within the county.
In 2023, Dr. Roberts joined Guidepoint Global LLC, a New York City-based consultancy, where he serves as a senior policy adviser in matters of technology, strategy and safety protocols. Here, he provides clients and private-sector organizations with expertise and advice pertaining to various matters across industries. Additionally, Dr. Roberts has contributed as an adjunct professor at Temple College, a public, two-year college with locations in Temple, Taylor, and Hutto, Texas, since 2025. As an educator at its Temple campus, he teaches business administration courses, is involved in course content and focuses on providing a positive classroom culture that promotes learning, academic growth and collaboration.
From 2019 to 2022, Dr. Roberts served as a special agent with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, where he led national security investigations across various geographical locations. Prior to this role, he was a special agent with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management between 2016 and 2019, conducting federal investigations into government personnel. Earlier in his career, Dr. Roberts worked as a veteran service representative for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2015 to 2016.
Dr. Roberts’s distinguished military service included his tenure with the U.S. Department of Defense, beginning in 1992 and continuing until his retirement in 2015 as a chief warrant officer. Previous roles included administrative officer, compliance officer and operations officer. Dr. Roberts’s military background provided a strong foundation for his later work in national security and public administration.
A commitment to lifelong learning is evident in Dr. Roberts’s academic achievements. He earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas, in 1999, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Coker College, now Coker University, in Hartsville, South Carolina, in 2001, a master’s degree in criminal justice from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2013, and a Doctor of Business Administration with a specialization in homeland security, leadership and policy from Northcentral University, now National University, in San Diego, California, in 2021. These credentials have underpinned Dr. Roberts’s expertise across national security, business administration and crisis management.
Dr. Roberts earned a certified public manager designation through Texas State University in 2026. He also holds federal investigator credentials from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and several professional certificates in human resources management through the U.S. Veterans Department Benefits Administration, along with numerous other professional certifications.
Adding to his expertise, Dr. Roberts’s professional affiliations include membership in the American Society for Public Administration and the International City Managers Association. He is also part of the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business and the National Society of Leadership and Success, and is recognized as a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., which has fostered his commitment to community engagement. Furthermore, Dr. Roberts has engaged with various civic and community organizations, including as a board secretary with the zoning board of adjustment for the city of Harker Heights since 2022 and as a board member of CASA of Bell & Coryell Counties since 2026. He also actively volunteers for outreach programs addressing homelessness, scholarship fundraising efforts, community cleanups and blood drives.
Dr. Roberts is recognized for authoring “Quantitative Non-Experimental Correlational Study: Determining any Existence Between the Predictors of Workplace Violence” in 2021. The paper was released via Northcentral University during his graduate studies.
Throughout his career, Dr. Roberts has demonstrated exceptional adaptability by excelling across diverse roles. In light of his hard work, he received the Legion of Merit from the U.S. Armed Forces for exceptionally meritorious conduct, three Bronze Star Medals, an accolade from the National Society of Leadership and Success, and several awards from the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business. Dr. Roberts credits his success to continuous self-improvement inspired by mentors, such as pastors, military leaders, community servants and family members, and emphasizes teamwork as essential to effective leadership.
