Mr. Matos has established himself as an expert in corporate events management, a distinction earned through decades of dedication and hands-on experience. In his current role as the director of event operations at The Staging Department, an events services company based in Santa Fe Springs, California, since 2025, he oversees the coordination of multiple departments, including vendors, executive producers, engineers and specialists in audio, video and LED lighting design. His leadership ensures that clients receive exceptional experiences at conferences and conventions across the United States and internationally. Among other responsibilities, Mr. Matos is responsible for managing budgets, addressing last-minute changes and resolving challenges before they impact clients. He is recognized for anticipating potential issues, ensuring seamless execution and upholding the highest standards so that clients’ brands and messages are communicated effectively.

Initially joining the company in 2015 as a project manager, Mr. Matos continues to maintain his role, where he collaborates closely with production managers, technical producers and show coordinators to deliver successful events for a global clientele. His work frequently involves attending and assisting with quarterly meetings outside the United States, reflecting his significant contributions to international conferences and conventions. Simultaneously, from 2019 to 2025, Mr. Matos held the position of executive technical producer at The Staging Department, having played a key role in orchestrating complex productions and ensuring technical excellence.

Before joining The Staging Department, Mr. Matos worked independently in 2014 as an audio-visual technician and project manager. This period allowed him to further hone his skills in problem-solving and client relations while managing diverse audio-video support on a freelance basis. From 2006 to 2014, Mr. Matos was a show coordinator at Door No. 3, Inc., where he gained valuable experience collaborating with creative teams and supporting high-profile events.

Between 2001 and 2006, Mr. Matos worked as a freelance audio-visual technician, providing technical support for a variety of companies and building a reputation for reliability and expertise for over five years. Prior to this, Mr. Matos managed audio-visual services at a hotel for VAE Corp., overseeing daily operations and ensuring client satisfaction, from 1999 to 2001.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Matos spent a year as an English language conversation teacher at NOVA Co. Ltd. in Niigata, Japan, from 1997 to 1998. During this time abroad, he also continued working as a disc jockey at various events, demonstrating adaptability and cross-cultural communication skills. Mr. Matos’ professional journey began with several years as a disc jockey at Big Wave International, now Big Wave Events, where he provided video dance parties at schools nationwide.

Throughout his career spanning more than three decades, Mr. Matos has traveled extensively across the United States and internationally. He considers going global, meeting remarkable people, including executives, skilled meeting planners and celebrities, a highlight of his professional life.

Mr. Matos holds a Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting and telecommunications from Salem-Teikyo University, now Salem University, graduating in 1993. Initially intending to pursue a career in news broadcasting, he transitioned into event management when that path did not materialize. Mr. Matos’ academic background has been instrumental in shaping his communication skills and technical understanding, qualities essential to his success in coordinating large-scale corporate events.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Matos is civically engaged as a donor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and various children’s charities, reflecting his commitment to supporting causes that benefit young people. He attributes much of his achievement to the talented individuals he has met throughout his career. He believes that surrounding oneself with dedicated professionals makes it easier to stand out in the industry.

Looking ahead, Mr. Matos is focused on elevating The Staging Department’s brand reputation while attracting new clients and maintaining satisfaction among existing ones. He remains committed to supporting employment within the company and is considering pursuing additional certifications should time allow amid his busy schedule. As he contemplates retirement in the coming years, Mr. Matos’ priority is to leave the organization stronger than when he began his tenure.
