Kenneth Guenther, Economist and Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Economics.
With more than 50 years of professional experience, Mr. Guenther was a consultant from 2004 to 2012. He also held a number of positions with the Independent Community Bankers of America, including president and chief executive officer from 2001 to 2004, executive vice president and director from 1985 to 2001, executive director from 1982 to 1985, and associate director from 1980 to 1982. From 1975 to 1979, he was assistant to the board of governors of Federal Reserve Systems, and from 1974 to 1975 he was acting deputy to the special trade representative at the White House.
Mr. Guenther served as an alternate United States executive director of the Inter-American Development Bank from 1973 to 1974, and he was a special assistant to US Senator Jacob Javits from 1969 to 1973. He was previously a Foreign Service officer for the United States Department of State from 1965 to 1969. Earlier in his career, he was an international economist with the US Department of Commerce from 1962 to 1965, having been an economist with the organization since 1960.
Mr. Guenther first pursued an education with the University of Rochester, earning a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1957. He subsequently completed postgraduate coursework with a number of schools, including the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies from 1957 to 1958, the Rangoon-Hopkins Center for Southeast Asian studies from 1958 to 1959, and with Yale University from 1959 to 1960. He then joined the United States Army, serving from 1961 to 1966. A leading voice in his community, he has been active with Social Compact, the Russian American Bankers Forum, the Community Bankers Association, the Bretton Woods Committee, the Exchequer Club, and the Kenwood Country Club.
Throughout his career, Mr. Guenther has been recognized for his contributions. The recipient of the Hero Award from the Homeownership Alliance, he was also given the Presidential Pen. The US Department of the Treasury has given him the Electronic Funds Transfer Achievement Award and the Federal Reserve System gave him a Special Achievement Award. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the East.
