G. Hunt Mitchell, CFP, Managing Director at Raymond James & Associates, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in financial planning.
With more than 45 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Mitchell has excelled as the managing director for Raymond James & Associates, Inc. since 2012. He embarked upon his professional path at the Landon School, from which he graduated, cum laude, in 1975. Soon thereafter, he played as a professional baseball player in the minor league systems for the Baltimore Orioles from 1975 to 1976 and the Toronto Blue Jays from 1977 to 1978. Transitioning from professional sports to a career in finance, Mr. Mitchell concluded his academic efforts with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business in 1979.
Mr. Mitchell subsequently refined his skills as a financial advisor at DeRand Investment Corp. from 1979 to 1985. During this time, he became a certified financial planner through the College of Financial Planning in 1983, an accomplishment that remains a highlight of his long and successful career. In the years that followed, he served as senior vice president at Legg Mason from 1985 to 2005 and as a senior vice president of investment management consulting and certified financial planner at Morgan Keegan from 2005 to 2012. His commitment to client relationships, exemplified by his continued work with a client he first gained in 1979, is a testament to his dedication and long-term focus in financial planning. Mr. Mitchell attributes much of his success to his early education, which he believes played a crucial role in his academic and social development.
Mr. Mitchell’s decision to enter the financial planning profession was influenced by a mentor early in his career, a connection that provided him with valuable guidance and knowledge. This mentorship, along with his commitment to integrity and client service, has comprised the foundation to his success. Although he is not yet considering retirement, Mr. Mitchell looks forward to future opportunities for personal growth and professional excellence in the coming years, with an emphasis on continuing to mentor younger colleagues and maintaining his longstanding client relationships.
