Susan Rae Ross, Senior Private Sector Engagement Advisor at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Clinical Hospital Administrator at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Human Services.
Ms. Ross, senior private sector engagement advisor for the Bureau for Global Health within the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has been active in her role since 2015. Shortly thereafter, she was hired as a clinical hospital administrator at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 2017, where she continues to excel in overseeing the daily operations of health services. Throughout her tenured career, Ms. Ross has been influential in several other companies, most recently as the founder and chief executive officer of SR International from 2003 to 2015 and as the reproductive health director at CARE USA between 1996 and 2003. She also held earlier roles at USAID, beginning as a health and population officer in Nigeria, Africa, in 1992, then as a health and population officer in Washington, D.C., in 1994, before serving in the same capacity in Eritrea, Africa, in 1995. Ms. Ross’s career has taken her to over 30 countries and 15 health systems across the U.S.
Highly educated, Ms. Ross holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh since 1984, a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois Chicago since 1991, and both a Master of Business Administration in international business and a Master of Science in management since 2001 from Tilburg University and Purdue University, respectively. Besides her degrees, she received accreditation as a primary group exercise instructor in 2017 and as a certified personal trainer in 2023 through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Ms. Ross has been active in her industry as a board member of the Society for International Development since 2014 and a member of the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals.
Apart from her primary career endeavors, Ms. Ross authored a book in 2012, “Expanding the Pie: Fostering Effective Non-Profit and Corporate Partnerships” via Kumarian Press. That following year, the Axiom Business Book Awards awarded her an International Business Award. As she prepares for the future, she intends to continue focusing on overseas initiatives, leveraging her development experience, understanding of international systems and hospital administration background at Georgetown University. She also plans to better understand the Guinean health care system to help advance health care in developing countries. Moreover, Ms. Ross envisions serving more in a mentorship capacity.
