Mr. Estrada Escobar has carved an esteemed career in leadership, particularly within the pharmaceutical industry, before transitioning to his present position as principal of Unlock Engine in Miami, Florida. Since 2021, he has excelled at the helm of Unlock Engine, where he sets the purpose and direction for the aforementioned company, ensuring alignment with its vision and mission. His responsibilities include leading his team, handling operational work, mentoring, and conducting workshops. Mr. Estrada Escobar’s most notable achievement is building Unlock Engine from the ground up and receiving recognition for his inspirational leadership model.
During this time, Mr. Estrada Escobar simultaneously served as general manager and chief executive officer at Boydorr Nutrition in Colombia from 2022 to 2023. In the years prior, he worked as the general manager for Abbott Finland in 2012, the general manager for AbbVie in Finland from 2013 to 2014, the general manager for Roche in Colombia from 2014 to 2019, and the vice president and head of Latin America at Cipla in Bogotá D.C., Colombia from 2019 to 2021. Mr. Estrada Escobar previously found success as the commercial director for Abbott’s Pharmaceutical Specialty and Hospital Products Division in Mexico City from 2004 to 2009 and the country manager for Abbott Laboratories in Peru from 2009 to 2011.
Mr. Estrada Escoba began his career as a key account executive for Procter & Gamble from 1991 to 1993 before being appointed as the brand manager for consumer products at L’Oréal in Bogotá D.C., Colombia from 1995 to 1996. His extensive experience across various countries has equipped him with a deep understanding of leadership dynamics, which he now channels into his work at Unlock Engine.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Estrada Escobar has remained involved in industry-related organizations. He was active as a board member of the Colombian-Swiss Chamber in Bogotá from 2018 to 2019 and held administrative positions with ANDI Pharma Chamber Colombia from 2015 to 2019. He was also recruited as a board member of the Association of Pharmaceutical Research and Development Laboratories (AFIDRO) from 2014 to 2019. Mr. Estrada Escobar has likewise contributed as the vice president of the National Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (ALAFARPE) in Peru in 2011.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Estrada Escobar pursued an education at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering in 1991. He continued his studies with a Master of Science in marketing from Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia in 1994. He concluded his academic efforts at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico in 2006, graduating with a diploma in management. These achievements have been instrumental in shaping his strategic approach to business and leadership.
Mr. Estrada Escobar’s commitment to personal growth is further evidenced by his certification as a co-active coach from the Co-Active Training Institute, obtained in 2021. This certification complements his open-mindedness, adaptability, and adherence to values—qualities he attributes to his success.
Beyond his primary endeavors, Mr. Estrada Escobar is an accomplished author with publications including “EL LEGADO: UNA HISTORIA DE LIDERAZGO” published in 2021 and “¡La salud debe ser una inversión, no un gasto!” presented at TEDxUExternadoSalon in 2018. He has received accolades such as the Great People Leader Award from the Great Place to Work Survey in 2017 and the Presidential Award for Marketing Excellence for Prime Formulas Strategy in 1997.
In his personal life, Mr. Estrada Escobar enjoys reading, sports, swimming, and dedicating his spare time to his family. He is dedicated to teaching his children to be their best selves.
