Title: Associate Director of Marketing Communications
Company: United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut, United States
Aaron J. Gaberman, associate director of marketing communications at the United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in sports and public relations.
In 2005, when he was just 10 years old, Mr. Gaberman was diagnosed with two cancerous tumors on his brain. While fighting this aggressive diagnosis, he found relief in what became the great passion of his life: sports. Mr. Gaberman ended up forging a connection with Bobby Murcer, a former player for his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. These experiences would ultimately instill in him a mindset to never give up, no matter what obstacles were placed in front of him.
Now in remission, Mr. Gaberman has established an esteemed career in communications and public relations, specializing in the realm of collegiate sports. His journey started in 2013 while just beginning college. During his academic years, Mr. Gaberman completed internships at the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Foundation, the Bridgeport Bluefish minor league baseball team, Sacred Heart University, Marist University, formerly Marist College, and Yale University. Through these opportunities, he built up his expertise in sports and collegiate athletics department promotion.
While pursuing his master’s degree, Mr. Gaberman gained further experience as a media relations intern and athletic communications assistant at Villanova University. He contributed as a graduate assistant in athletic communications at Sacred Heart University beginning in 2018. That position was enabled by Bill Hogg, who Mr. Gaberman considers a pivotal mentor in his life. The same figure hired him to a full-time role as an athletic communication coordinator at the school in 2020.
Following a brief tenure as a manager for the Upstairs Press Tribune at USA Wrestling, Mr. Gaberman dedicated several years to working as the assistant director of strategic communications at The Pennsylvania State University. His duties included serving as a media relations contact for the school’s women’s ice hockey and men’s lacrosse teams, as well as producing social media content to enhance fan engagement and increase revenue.
Since 2025, Mr. Gaberman has served as the associate director of marketing and communications at the United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien. This role offers him the opportunity to give back to his local Jewish community. It has also presented Mr. Gaberman with new challenges as he has navigated the addition of marketing duties on top of the communications work he’s already deeply skilled at. Among his responsibilities at the United Jewish Federation, he manages the group’s social media and digital content, oversees production of its monthly in-house newspaper, and creates a range of marketing materials such as posters and advertisements.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Gaberman set a foundation for his future through his academic ventures. He participated in a visiting student program at University College Cork in Ireland in 2016. Mr. Gaberman obtained a Bachelor of Arts in sports communication from Marist College in 2017. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Arts in athletic communications from Sacred Heart University in 2020.
In addition to his career accomplishments, Mr. Gaberman is committed to serving as an inspiration for others in the cancer patient and cancer survivor communities. In service of that goal, he and his mother co-founded Berni & Murcer – Friends for Life Inc. in 2005. This organization is named after Mr. Gaberman’s connection with Bobby Murcer and Bernese mountain dogs, who are known for forming lifelong friendships. He continues to serve on the board of directors for Berni & Murcer, as well as being an executive board member of Up ‘til Dawn, a nationwide college student program associated with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Outside of work hours, Mr. Gaberman enjoys playing golf, cooking, baking and playing the violin. Looking to the future, he is excited to continue advancing in his industry and taking on greater challenges. Mr. Gaberman aims to become a director or associate assistant director in strategic communications at either a charitable organization or sports-related entity. Though he’ll always love sports, he also expresses a strong motivation to expand and develop his talents in communications and public relations more broadly.
