Title: Founder and Principal Consultant
Company:
Curadian Group
Location:
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

David Grote, founder and principal consultant at Curadian Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals.

For more than 30 years, Mr. Grote has demonstrated leadership and expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, with a particular focus on validation and quality assurance. His first role was as a research biologist at Monsanto (now owned by Bayer AG) soon after graduating from college in 1993. Mr. Grote initially intended to pursue marine biology, but he decided he wasn’t interested in becoming a teacher. Through a friend, he discovered his first opportunity as a validation engineer for Glaxo Wellcome Biopharmaceuticals (now GSK) in 1997.

Quickly realizing his skill for this line of work, Mr. Grote gained further experience as a validation specialist at ValSource Inc. and a senior validation specialist at Immunex, which was acquired by Amgen shortly after he joined. While affiliated with Amgen, he demonstrated his value during a challenging project where he helped lead the conversion of a facility that produced a single pharmaceutical product into a multiproduct facility. As the leader of the quality philosophy for this transition, Mr. Grote had to execute a process that would address any concerns about cross contamination between the different products. Not only was the project a success, but that plant is still operating today, more than 20 years later.

Across the course of more than 10 years at Amgen, Mr. Grote rose from the position of validation lead to senior manager of process validation, quality lead, senior manager of manufacturing, and finally senior specialist of operations regulatory compliance. He left the company in 2013 due to his wife’s career as a doctor in the U.S. Navy, which necessitated relocation. Mr. Grote then joined Teva Pharmaceuticals as the company’s head of quality assurance, later earning a promotion to global head of biologics research and development quality assurance. He enjoyed numerous exciting opportunities during his eight-year tenure with Teva, including the chance to help build a cutting-edge biologics manufacturing facility that incorporated all aspects of medicine production into a single location.

Concurrently with his time at Amgen and Teva, Mr. Grote served as a course instructor for NC BioNetwork, teaching a two-day pharmaceutical validation course twice a year. He took on new challenges in 2021 when he became head of quality at Immunocore, a smaller biotech company. There, he learned more about clinical quality assurance oversight, distribution quality and European rules and regulations.

Mr. Grote founded his own company, Curadian Group, in 2025 and has since served as principal consultant for the organization. Through Curadian Group, he’s able to leverage his extensive experience in biopharmaceuticals to support a wide range of clients with data analytics, investment and market strategies, product development, regulatory compliance and more. Mr. Grote also expresses interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and is currently writing a white paper on how this technology can be used within life sciences. He has also taken on the duties of vice president of strategy for GrayMatter Partners, where he also assists with business and regulatory strategy.

Before venturing onto his vocational path, Mr. Grote established a solid foundation of knowledge for his professional future. He earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Truman State University in 1993. Mr. Grote briefly returned to school, completing coursework in biological sciences at the University of Rhode Island. He has also benefited from membership in the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering, the Military Spouse Employment Partnership and the Parenteral Drug Association.

Outside of his extensive career, Mr. Grote is happily married. He finds relaxation in scuba diving, sailing, boating and traveling the world. Mr. Grote is committed to supporting Curadian Group’s continued growth and success in the years ahead. He looks forward to playing a key role in modernizing quality assurance and regulatory frameworks in the pharmaceutical sector.
