Since 2004, he has served as a manager of IT compliance and technology risk and compliance at T-Mobile USA, Inc., where he is responsible for handling escalations, collaborating with business applications on the IT side, and leveraging advanced tools, such as ChatGPT, to pull data. In this capacity, Mr. Kesler conducts weekly one-on-one training sessions with employees, focusing on their goals and performance, and is recognized for his commitment to mentoring and developing talent. He takes pride in having grown his team from two members to 50, fostering an environment of brainstorming, skill development and professional certification.
In addition to his commitments at T-Mobile USA, Inc., Mr. Kesler has served as the manager of technology risk and regulatory IT compliance at Sprint/T-Mobile since 2020, further solidifying his leadership in regulatory matters and risk oversight.
From 2006 to 2020, Mr. Kesler contributed as a technology support engineer III at Sprint, applying his technical acumen to support critical business operations. Between 2003 and 2006, he excelled as a training specialist II for the telecommunications company, where he was instrumental in designing and delivering training programs that enhanced employee competencies across the organization. His earlier tenure as an advanced sales support manager from 1996 to 2003 saw him leading initiatives that bridged technical solutions with customer needs. Among other progressive roles, Mr. Kesler began his career with Sprint as a data operations manager in 1983, a position he upheld for five years before advancing. This role came after an initial five years with United Telephone System.
Mr. Kesler completed college coursework after earning his high school diploma. Ranking among the top seven in his class during high school, he demonstrated early academic promise that laid the foundation for his future achievements. In addition to attending college, Mr. Kesler holds an Agile 6.0 certification through the Scaled Agile Framework, underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and adaptation in the field.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kesler has been an active member of AFCEA International. Beyond his professional commitments, he is deeply involved in civic activities. As the co-leader of the Veterans and Allies Network, he supports veterans by serving lunches, assisting with housing needs and making charitable contributions, efforts that bring him deep fulfillment. Mr. Kesler also participates in initiatives with the Veterans Community Project and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and volunteers at a local food pantry.
Mr. Kesler’s contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Leadership and Action Award and the Three Cheers Award from T-Mobile. He attributes much of his success to the values instilled by his grandmother, emphasizing empathy, integrity and genuine connection with others, as well as persistence, accountability and a positive attitude. These principles have guided both Mr. Kesler’s professional interactions and community service efforts.
Besides his grandmother, Joseph Magliacano was a pivotal influence in Mr. Kesler’s life, whom he regards as a significant mentor. Their relationship began during Mr. Kesler’s first management position at Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company in eastern North Carolina. Under Joe’s mentorship, spanning daily guidance, professional advancement opportunities in Dallas and support through organizational changes, he developed expertise in audit responsibilities, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance, PCI standards and government regulations. This mentorship shaped Mr. Kesler’s approach to leadership and accountability throughout his career.
Looking ahead, Mr. Kesler plans to pursue a financial education program at T-Mobile to deepen his understanding of credit risk management and taxation while seeking greater involvement across various aspects of business operations. He remains committed to studying leadership models, such as those advocated by John Maxwell, with aspirations to work more closely with executive leaders, manage teams effectively and make a meaningful difference within society.
