Joel A. Stone, President at ConVergInce Advisers LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in industrial biotechnology development.
Growing up, Mr. Stone was deeply interested in chemistry and the environment. In high school, his interests were piqued by biotechnology and the phases involved in that field, as he saw how much of a positive impact it could have on environmental sustainability. When it came time to pursue a formal education, he attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. One year later, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s degree in chemical and biochemical engineering. Later, in 2004, Mr. Stone returned to school at Dutchess Community College and completed coursework in total productive maintenance.
Early in his career, after gaining valuable experience with A.E. Staley Manufacturing Co. and Harbert Lummus Joint Venture, Mr. Stone became the vice president of operations at Opta Food Ingredients, Inc. He remained there until 2001, going on to take on leadership roles with the Balchem Corporation, Abengoa Bioenergy Corporation and Asalliances Biofuels LLC. Later, from 2012 until 2015, Mr. Stone served as the president of Central Minnesota renewables with Green Biologics, Inc., as well as the president of global engineering with Green Biologics Limited. Since 2010, he has excelled as the president of Convergince Advisers LLC, alongside his more recent ventures as the executive vice president of strategy at Lee Enterprises Consulting, Inc. and board chair at Fermentum. As a testament to his success, Mr. Stone earned the Inaugural Champion for Industry Award from Thomas.net in 2019, which accompanies his earlier listings in esteemed honorary publications, including America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals.
