With three and a half decades of experience, Mr. VonFeldt has established a successful career in engineering, construction, and capital program management, specializing in infrastructure, transit and rail, transportation, telecommunications, and aviation. Since 2024, he has served as principal at Lochner. His experience also includes program manager for program management support services at LA Metro under Triunity from 2017, contributing to the oversight of Los Angeles’s largest capital program. This program includes $26 billion in projects under construction and more than $100 billion in planned projects. His work focuses on improving collaboration to integrate high-speed rail and interstate highway initiatives with regional transportation, transit, rail, and aviation infrastructure, ensuring alignment with advancements in electronic vehicle and aircraft technology.

From 2010 to 2024, he was principal and vice president of program and project controls services at Triunity Engineering & Management. His earlier roles include program and project controls manager at Parsons Brinckerhoff from 1998 to 2009, program controls manager for RTD Denver FasTracks from 2008 to 2016, deputy director for programme assurance at London Underground from 2003 to 2007, and scheduling manager at Silverado Constructors from 1994 to 1998. In addition, he has dedicated his time serving as western winter workshop board chair since 2022, assistant professor at the University of Colorado, Denver from 2015 to 2016, and member of the professional advisory development board at Colorado State University from 2000 to 2016. An accomplished endurance athlete, he is a four-time LT100 MTB finisher, completing the race in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022.

Laying an educational foundation, Mr. VonFeldt earned a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Colorado State University in 1989. He holds project management professional certifications from the PMI-Los Angeles Chapter, earned in 2018, and from Parsons Brinckerhoff, achieved in 2002. Reflecting on his path, his professional journey began as a project control engineer immediately after graduating. His early career included work on diverse infrastructure projects, starting with the construction of a power plant and an international airport. Over the years, he made significant contributions to the development of 16 rail lines over a decade, before transitioning to his current role in Los Angeles, where he focuses on large-scale infrastructure initiatives.

Mr. VonFeldt’s expertise also encompasses scopeholder collaboration for multi-owner mega projects, including the Modex initiative launched in 2022, and earned value reporting, showcased as a best practice for TfL/London Underground in 2006. He has also served as industry co-chair of the research and outreach committee for the Colorado State University construction management department’s professional advisory development board since 2000 and continues to contribute as a guest lecturer at Los Angeles Community College.

Mr. VonFeldt attributes his success to the mentorship and values instilled by his grandfather, who emphasized honesty, diligence, transparency, and ethical decision-making. His grandmother further shaped his character by fostering interpersonal skills and nurturing his sensitivity. Looking to the future, he aspires to unify the national public infrastructure ecosystem, enhancing collaboration among public entities engaged in complex projects. His goal is to maximize outcomes while optimizing resources, leveraging skilled professionals, effective processes, and advanced technologies. A key focus of his efforts includes preparing the infrastructure required for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, supporting LA Metro and the city’s public transit systems. He also remains dedicated to assisting individuals and teams working toward these ambitious goals, ensuring impactful and efficient public infrastructure development.
