Ms. Carranza has earned a reputation for excellence within the engineering and construction sectors, currently serving as a senior estimator for Turner Construction Company since 2025. Advancing to this position after initially working for the organization as an estimating engineer from 2016 to 2025, her responsibilities include receiving documents from a design team, reviewing them for constructability and scopes, and sending drawings out for feedback or proposals. She also conducts takeoffs, prepares estimates or deliverables for the clients and presents them to ensure alignment. Among other tasks, Ms. Carranza assists with drawing reviews and budget checks. Her ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is a testament to her organizational skills and dedication to excellence.
Before being recruited by Turner Construction Company over a decade ago, Ms. Carranza initially worked in the field at Hollman Inc., where she spent one year honing her skills as an estimator. When she pivoted to work at Turner as an estimating engineer, she dedicated nearly a decade to developing her expertise.
Ms. Carranza’s journey in the construction sector began with a solid educational foundation. She earned a Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering with a minor in mathematics from Texas A&M University in Kingsville in 2014. This academic background equipped her with the analytical skills necessary for her career. Additionally, Ms. Carranza is actively involved in industry-related organizations, such as the local chapter of the American Subcontractors Association, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Inc. of South Texas, and Ladies Operating for Growth in Construction, a women’s peer group within ABC Inc.
Beyond her professional activities, Ms. Carranza is deeply committed to community service. She served as the head of the veterans’ employee resource group at Turner Construction Company from 2020 to 2024. She has also volunteered with various community outreach programs, including Ronald McDonald House Charities and the San Antonio Food Bank. Ms. Carranza’s involvement extends to volunteering with AGC and participating in children’s ministry activities at her local church.
Throughout her career, Ms. Carranza has distinguished herself by her commitment to mentoring and developing others. Despite being an introvert by nature, she has learned to network effectively and enjoys helping colleagues advance in their careers. Ms. Carranza’s ability to connect with others and provide a safe space for questions has made her a trusted advisor within her organization.
Ms. Carranza attributes much of her success to the support of her husband and the opportunities provided by Turner Construction Company. The company’s supportive environment has allowed her to explore various roles and pursue new challenges under the guidance of strong mentors who have encouraged her growth beyond initial expectations.
Looking ahead, Ms. Carranza aims to continue developing herself professionally by stepping out of her comfort zone and taking greater initiative in her profession. As her children grow older, she anticipates having more time to focus on building her career further while continuing to mentor others within the industry.
